In Hungarian practice the overlay design of pavement structure is executed on the grounds of the deflection values recorded when determining of the load-bearing capacity of the pavement structure. The dividing of examined section into subsections, in which the load-bearing capacity of pavement is same, is needed to determine the thickness of overlay. The criteria in the current Hungarian Specification can be found more permissive than the foreign standards, so it often occurs that load-bearing capacity of subsection is homogeneous according to the Hungarian standard but it is quite inhomogeneous in fact. This paper tries to reveal these problems.
