Dr. Gilyén Jenő:
Gondolatok a szerkezettervezésre alkalmazott anyagtanról

Kivonat

Recently the applied reinforced concrete load-bearing structures consist mainly of precast (many times prestressed) components. The resulting compiled structures are often falsely treated in engineering calculus – being considered as „quasi monolithic” structures. This consideration „survives” from the past pioneer-times of industrial prefabrication, when no experience and no availability of sophisticated calculation methods referred to the real inhomogeneous-composite structural behaviour, This mistreatment of the structural reality seriously endangers the safety and the reliability of the buildings. Instead of the highlighting of the need for further well designed test-series, experimental researches - engineering design turns often to the simple running of the common softwares of structural analysis. But dimensioning softwares will never bring new ideas, new findings, they only give fast answer to the „actual question of the designer” described by the input data set. Building materials, structural specialities, specific behaviour of inhomogeneous joints could be better understood only by evaluation of (realistic large model) trials. In the new generations of engineers this knowledge of the materials and their real „cooperation” in the joints seems to be extinct and smoothly replaced by the skill of running softwares. – Although the proper use of engineering software might have been based on accurate knowlwdge of the physical reality! This article intends to argue for a better ranking of interest of physical phaenomena of the structures.
